Yep, this is Venice Beach with everyone trying to make a dollar. Buskers, homeless, druggies etc, it's all about 'targeting the tourist'.

You know when you start to arrive towards Venice Beach and you don't really need this sign to tell you that. The whole atmosphere changes and you feel the difference in the air. Santa Monica is beautiful, upmarket and clean. Venice Beach although interesting and full of character is full of people trying to 'make a dollar' out of anything and everything. This includes homeless people, druggies trying to support their habits and alot of unstable people in general.
Mini Slideshow below of sights along the Santa Monica to Venice Beac Boulevard Continuing our walk along the Boulevard towards Venice Beach while capturing a few 'candid' moments along the way. The beauty of 'street photography'.
Couldn't wait to walk the stretch from Santa Monica to Venice Beach, as this was always the 'top of the list' to visit. The walk along the beach front boulevard from Santa Monica to Venice Beach is approximately 3.5 miles. The beach itself is amazingly wide with plenty of activity options and great for people watching. This coastline is where you find anything from 'normal to abnormal' and anything in between. We'll start by having a look at the 'normal'.
"Hello LA", arrived here today and "yes" it is everything that everyone says it is. A huge city with a large wide road networks. Already it feels busy, confusing, noisy, crowded and unpredictable. Still, the plan is always to seek out the quirky interesting and different spots and to tell the story of the city with interesting photos. |
